Q&A with Style Collective London Founder Tiffany Luckett on how sourcing occasion wear is changing
Style Collective London
Q: What is Style Collective London?
A: ‘Style Collective is a platform for renting luxury clothing, offering customers prices that are a fraction of the price that you can buy the clothes in store.
We focus on partnering with brands and designers who are looking to offer a sustainable alternative to their customers. We believe that renting clothing is the future of fashion.
Our mission is to give everyone access to affordable, on-demand, luxury fashion, whilst supporting designers and supporting the environment’.
Q: What brands do you stock?
A: ‘We stock pieces from brands such as Stella McCartney and Dolce&Gabbana, through to smaller luxury brands like Harmur’.
Q: What gave you the inspiration for this business?
A: ‘I have always been absolutely obsessed with fashion, spending a large amount of my personal time buying and trying on clothes. I amassed such a huge amount of clothing, which was great when I was sharing a house with lots of girls who could borrow them, but when I lived alone, I realised they were absolutely wasted in my wardrobe So, I came up with the idea of sharing my wardrobe for a fee, and the idea behind Style Collective was born!’
Q: What do you look for when sourcing an item?
A: ‘We focus on collections at Style Collective. Our first collection is a selection of the perfect Wedding Guest outfits. We pair every dress with at least three headpieces that match, handpicked by us working in collaboration with our partners The Hat Club. We also look for pieces that are well-made as they need to have longevity, and I look for pieces that are bold and fun, as I think people tend to want to rent something quite fashion-forward’.
Q: Do you ever source an item but would like to keep it for yourself?
A: ‘Yes absolutely! It’s so hard buying a piece that I love so much in a size that won’t fit me! But I love thinking of the pieces that other people will love, and I love it when people tell me how much they want to wear some of the pieces I have chosen! I can’t wait to launch and see them on some beautiful clients’.
